rafThis extreme sport runs on fast-flowing rivers. The different grades allow participants to choose the level of river dificulty they wish to ride in depending on their skill level, with Grade 1 being simple (skill level: basic) and Grade 5 being very dangerous (skill level: advanced experience). This activity is led by qualified raftingguides, who go over all safety measures, and the tour can range from hours to days.

There’s plenty to choose from: White water rafting, gentle family floats, multi-day rafting and many more!

White water rafting is one of the best adventures in New Zealand. In 2 1/2 hours you navigate over 60 rollercoaster rapids with an expert guide at the helm. Riding the Kaituna River in Rotorua is a must. It is home to the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world – 7m Tutea Falls. Pass through steep, bush clay canyons and over 13 awesome drops. This river offers everything to both experienced and first-time rafters.

1 1/2 hours of gentle family floats is perfect for first-time rafters and especially children with a minimum age of 3. You still get to paddle and there are some small rapids to navigate but nothing too wet or wild.

Overnight rafting trips are truly magical. You’re with your friends, have good food and are sure to make some great memories to cherish under the stars. Overnight trips can be customized to fit different groups in rivers such as the Mohaka, the Rangitikei and the Motu rivers and vary from 2 half days to 5 days depending on the amount of time you have and the amount of river you want to cover.
